Nes atat, O! fy Nuw -
Nes at fy Nuw;
Boed croesau fil o'm blaen,
Ond im gael byw
Uwch byd, fy ngweddi yw -
Nes atat, O! fy Nuw -
Nes at fy Nuw.
Er fel pererin blin
Ar ddyrys daith,
Trwy nos heb le i'm pen
Ond carreg laith,
Mewn breuddwyd gad im fyw
Nes atat, O! Fy Nuw -
Nes at fy Nuw.
Er bod y llwybrau'n serth,
O'r byd i'r nef,
Trwy ras i fyny'r af,
Yn llon fy llef;
Dan wÃẂn yr engyl gwiw,
Nes atat, O! Fy Nuw -
Nes at fy Nuw.
O'm cwsg os codi wnaf
A'm bron yn friw,
O'm calon garreg gwnaf
Fethel i'm Duw,
Trwy 'ngwae i mi gael byw -
Nes atat, O! Fy Nuw -
Nes at fy Nuw.
Yn llon os hedeg wnaf
Trwy'r wybren fry,
Uwch haul, y lloer, a'r sÃẂr,
I nefol lu,
Fy gweddi yno, clyw -
Nes atat, O! Fy Nuw -
Nes at fy Nuw.

Nearer to thee, O my God -
Nearer to my God;
Let there be a thousand crosses before me,
If only I get to live
Above the word, my prayer is -
Nearer to thee, O my God -
Nearer to thee.
Although like a weary pilgrim
On a troublesome journey,
Through a night with no place for my head
But a damp stone,
In a dream let me live
Nearer to thee, O my God -
Nearer to my God.
Although the paths be steep,
From the world to heaven,
Through grace up I shall go,
Cheerful my cry;
Under the smile of the worthy angel,
Nearer to thee, O my God -
Nearer to my God.
From my sleep if I do arise
With my breast bruised,
From my stoney heart I shall make
A Bethel to my God,
Through my woe for me to live -
Nearer to thee, O my God -
Nearer to my God.
Cheerfully if do fly
Through the sky above,
Above sun, the moon, and the stars,
To a heavenly host,
My prayer there, hear thou -
Nearer to thee, O my God -
Nearer to my God.

Nearer, my God, to Thee,
nearer to Thee!
E'en though it be a cross
that raiseth me,
Still all my song shall be,
Nearer, my God, to Thee.
Nearer to Thee!
Though like the wanderer,
the sun gone down,
Darkness be over me,
my rest a stone.
Yet in my dreams I'd be
Nearer, my God, to Thee.
Nearer to Thee!
There let the way appear,
steps unto Heav'n;
All that Thou sendest me,
in mercy given;
Angels to beckon me
Nearer, my God, to Thee.
Nearer to Thee!
Then, with my waking thoughts
bright with Thy praise,
Out of my stony griefs
Bethel I'll raise;
So by my woes to be
Nearer, my God, to Thee.
Nearer to Thee!
Or, if on joyful wing
cleaving the sky,
Sun, moon, and stars forgot,
upward I'll fly,
Still all my song shall be,
Nearer, my God, to Thee.
Nearer to Thee!
